HYPERCALCEMIA

Hypercalcemia or high blood calcium level can be because of abnormal and excessive Parathyroid hormone secretion. High blood calcium level in the mild and early stages usually does not present with any symptoms and is usually discovered by routine blood chemistry. In its severe and late stages, high calcium level due to excessive Parathyroid hormone secretion can manifest with bone and muscle pain and can lead to both kidney damage and osteoporosis.

High blood calcium level because of Parathyroid hormone over secretion may be treated conservatively but is usually cured in appropriate cases by Parathyroid Surgery. If you have high blood calcium level, please consult your Endocrinologist to exclude Parathyroid disease and recommend appropriate treatment.
